we do.

At Wells Fargo, we continue to look for ways to do what’s right for our customers, we seek broad impact in our communities, and we’re proud of the important role we play for our customers, our communities, and the U.S. economy.

We continue to look for ways to do what’s right for our customers

Core to Wells Fargo’s evolution is making sure we stay focused on our customers, always putting them first and foremost.

We created a new Office of Consumer Practices, a consumer-focused advisory group dedicated to driving fairness and transparency in our products, services, and business practices. This group has:

  • Improved procedures and customer communications to enhance simplicity, clarity, and transparency, helping customers make informed decisions.
  • Launched Treating Consumers Fairly Principles and integrated them into employee training, policies and procedures, and other materials across the company.

We seek broad impact in our communities

As a company, we are focused on building a sustainable, inclusive future for all by supporting housing affordability, small business growth, financial health, and a low-carbon economy. Wells Fargo has donated nearly $2 billion to strengthen local communities over the last five years.

In 2023, examples of our work include:

  • Donated approximately $300 million to over 3,000 nonprofits in support of housing, small business, financial health, sustainability, and other community needs.
  • Opened HOPE Inside centers in 15 markets supporting 57 retail branches to help empower community members to achieve their financial goals through financial education and free one-on-one coaching.
  • Exceeded our $150 million Special Purpose Credit Program (SPCP) commitment to advance racial equity in homeownership, helping customers refinance their mortgages to below-market rate loans with reduced closing costs.
  • Launched $10,000 Homebuyer Access℠ grants that will be applied toward the down payment for eligible homebuyers who currently live in or are purchasing homes in certain underserved communities.
  • Expanded our commitment to housing affordability through another $20 million Breakthrough Challenge to advance ideas addressing the need for more affordable homes.

We’re proud of the important role we play for our customers, for our communities, and in the U.S. economy

In the United States, we proudly:

  • Serve more than 10% of small businesses nationwide.
  • Are a leading middle-market banking provider.
  • Serve our customers digitally and in person, maintaining one of the largest branch networks in the nation — 4,000 locations across the country, operating in 24 of the 30 largest markets.
  • Cover more rural markets than many large banks, and nearly 30% of our branches are in low- or moderate-income census tracts.

Beyond serving our own customers, our goal is to be prepared for the unknowns, which means being financially strong, strategically well positioned, and having the operational and management capabilities to not just survive, but to be a source of strength. It’s what enabled us to lend support to a smaller bank in a time of need in 2023, which helped stabilize the banking system, ease consumer concerns, and keep a challenge from becoming a much broader crisis.
