Celebrating the Year of the Snake

For more than 100 years, Wells Fargo has celebrated Lunar New Year with our customers and employees. Wells Fargo welcomes the Year of the Snake as we continue the tradition of celebrating works by Asian artists in the creation of our Lunar New Year calendar. In East Asian culture, the snake is an iconic symbol of wisdom, transformation, and resilience.

The 2025 Year of the Snake calendar features a custom design from Victo Ngai, a Chinese illustrator, who pays homage to the snake’s strengths. She uses color and intricate detailing to depict the snake-tree adorned with lush flowers, a culturally significant symbol for Asian communities, representing resilience, longevity, and boundless opportunities as Ngai’s art explores themes of cultural legacy and transformation through an Asian lens. We invite you to download her artwork as a mobile or computer desktop wallpaper to celebrate Lunar New Year all year long.

Each year, it is an honor for Wells Fargo to team up with Asian artists to help bring Lunar New Year to life and honor our diverse communities.

Victo’s Year of the Snake interpretation features a snake forming an infinity symbol—or the lucky number 8—representing eternal prosperity. The number 8 holds special significance in Chinese culture, as its pronunciation sounds similar to the words for wealth or prosperity.

In celebration of the Year of the Snake, I drew inspiration from the symbolic traits of this zodiac sign. The color and line treatments are influenced by the art of cloisonné, an intricate metalwork technique used in ancient China. My interpretation reflects the Snake's refined taste and embodying wishes for prosperity in the year ahead.

We hope her artwork signals a prosperous year ahead for you!

Each year, it is an honor for Wells Fargo to team up with Asian artists to help bring Lunar New Year to life and honor our diverse communities. Join us as we celebrate the Year of the Snake.
